Philipp Degen is injured again! The Swiss rightback picked up a foot injury in the 4-2 loss to Spurs in midweek. This latest injury is set to keep Degen on the sidelines for 4 weeks. Since he arrived at Liverpool in the summer on a free transfer, we have not seen much of the player as he has always had one injury or the other. I am glad that we did not pay millions for him as I would be very disappointed on spending such a lot of money on a player who is always injured.

I got a chance to see Degen for the first time in the Carling Cup loss to Spurs and he did not do much to impress me. Granted the whole team did not play well but I did not even see a glimpse of what he has to offer. Rafa really needs to get another rightback as soon as possible to replace or cover Arbeloa as Degen just does not seem to cut it.

Now we going into the game against Bolton tomorrow and Arbeloa is suspended so that would have meant that Degen would have slotted into the rightback role but now Rafa is going to probably use Carragher at rightback or give Stephen Darby a run at rightback. I like what I have seen of Darby so far but I feel for such an important away game like Bolton, Rafa should stick to experience and opt for Carra at rightback and Agger and Sami in the middle.
