We need to get our title bid back on track and after last weeks disapointment at Spurs we couldn’t have been handed a better game than West Brom at home. However nothing can or should be taken forgranted in football and the work and graft still needs but in on the pitch to claim the three points as West Brom are not a bad team and play good football, they just have a poor defense. We hold a perfect 6 out of 6 records against West Brom with 19goals scored and NOT ONE against !!. Lets hope this great run continues on Saturday evening and with hopefully a fired up Torres returning we shall get what we want. GOALS !!!

Although we lost our unbeaten start to the season we are still the only club in the EPL that has not lost at home in 2008. Our home forme has been good and the only game we haven’t scored against has been Stoke (well Stevie G did) so I seriously can’t see West Brom leaving with even a point as long as we play to our potential. I mean if we are serious about winning the league as I think the team are we have to win on Saturday against a team that has only won 6 out of 62 away matches in their EPL history or else we will be laughed at.

So what about the Head to Head Stats – Well pretty good reading as you would expect if you are a Red and if you are under approx 25 or 26 and supporting West Brom you have never witnessed a West Brom win since Bryan Robson and Cyrille Regis scred in a 2-0 win at The Hawthorns and in fact you have to go back 41 years to come  across The Baggies last win at Anfield, a 0-1 win in the old first division 1967.

If selceted ex-Red Scott Carson will be between the posts for West Brom. He only made 9 apperances for us and I personally don;t rate him as a great keeper but after putting a jinx on us last week by using the Shankly invincible quote he will probably have the game of his life.

Gary Megson is coming under a lot of pressure from the West Brom fans who of course are not enjoying what they are seeing this season. I feel a bit sorry for him as he always seems to get it in the neck about his teams performances but he is in control of a limited squad with very little potential and it will be the greatest win of his career if come Sat night he has escaped with a result from Anfield.

Shanks Quote Of The Week.

I’ve been a slave to football. It follows you home, it follows you everywhere, and eats into your family life. But every working man misses out on some things because of his job.

i can’t believe nobody corrected me after this preview. It is of course Tony Mowbray geetting it in the neck from the West Brom fans not Gary Megson…or else everybody was just taking pity on me…lol
