One would have thought that the transfer window is now closed there would not be a lot of transfer talk but alas, names are still being thrown around about possible targets for Liverpool. It is clear Rafa is after another striker. The name of Emile Heskey had been thrown around last week but I was not really keen about Heskey coming back to Liverpool. But today there is now talk about Amr Zaki being a possible target for Rafa.

Now we all saw Zaki at first hand on Saturday when he scored Wigan’s two goals against us. The first may not have been amazing but the second certainly was. I followed the Africa Cup of Nations very closely, a tournament which Egypt went on to win and Zaki was the star of that team. At that time I thought he was going to be signed by a big European team but I was surprised that he ended up at Wigan. But I guess the move to Wigan may be good for him and us in the long run as he will adapt to the English game at Wigan and once he has settled he could move to a team like Liverpool.

I would certainly love to see Zaki at Liverpool and he would be the perfect man to back up Torres and I am sure Zaki would be happy with such a role especially playing for such a big team. Wigan say they have the first option on signing Zaki permanently as he is only at Wigan on loan but if he continues playing the way he is, I can not see Wigan out bidding other top teams for his signature.

I don’t really like paying money for players on the back of a good tournament and few good club matches. if we are buying a striker I think we should purchase a proven goalscorer. I remember paying a fortune for Diouf due to his good international matches especially against France (forget the year). He hardly set the place on fire

no way should we get zaki. i hate that people are already looking for a replacement for keane. its been less than 15 games into the season. give the lad some time, he has a goal and three or four assists.

We dont need another striker, we already have Torres, Keane, Ngog, Kuyt, Babel and some nice youngsters who waiting for their chances…Most importantly, we are scoring more goals than MU at the moment. So, what’s wrong with our strike force?

you are corect (the kop) we don”t need more strikers that is enough but we need two or three midfielders.

I know where your coming from Jeff. We tend to forget that Kuyt and Babel are really strikers who Rafa uses wide but do you think either of them is capable of +20 goals in a season which would be required if Torres did pick up a long-term injury? Unless something drastic happens Keane aint going to light the goal scoring charts up either.

We have scored 13 goals in the premiership so far and Torres has bagged 5 of them so you can see that he needs replaced with somebody who can perhaps live with that goal ratio. Ok Kuyt has 3 in the last two EPL games. Do oyu think he can keep this up?
