It has now been almost 24 hours since that amazing win yesterday against Manchester United. If you are like me, you can not stop smiling! But we now have to come back down to earth and remember that there is still a lot of football to be played this season. Looking back at yesterdays game, I feel that was out best team performance so far this season. Hopefully we can build on from that. I was really impressed with Riera’s debut and he looks a good buy. Seeing Kuyt play as a striker and not on the right wing was good to see. Mascherano worked tirelessly in midfield and praise must go to him. So to the match winner, Ryan Babel who came off the bench to clinch us the winner. Who was your man of the match? Please cast your vote below.

I see most votes are going to Mascherano and I know after his dreadful start he made up for it but due to him letting Tevez run past him for the first goal I don;t think he should get MOTM. Alonso never put a foot wrong all day – his passing was superb and he linked midfield with the forward line all day with long passes out wide and shrter efforts into the feet of Keane and Kuyt – top notch and proved me right that it would have been a mistake to seel him for Gareth Barry who I don’t think could on his best day could have played as well as Alonso did on Saturday. So it’s Alonso for me.

This was a tough one to call and both Mascherano and Alonso did a great job in midfield. My vote goes to Mascherano.

Mascherano played a small part, but it mostly a shocker from Jamie. He simply looked awful the first 10-15 minutes. Let’s not forget the Anderson cross into the box that Tevez put just over. He completely faked Carragher out and left him flailing in the air as he took a completely unchallenged shot on goal. Luckily for us he missed, but Berbatov never should have been able to roll that turd across the box in the first place.
Then you look at how much of our possession came through Javier either directly or indirectly and I just don’t think you can take it away from him. Alonso played well, and no one is taking anything away from him by voting for the Monster.
