It has been rather a busy day of transfer activity at Anfield. Steve Finnan has joined Espanyol in a two year deal for an undisclosed fee. On first thought, one would think that Finnan was part of the deal that would bring Riera to Liverpool but it is said that these two deals are separate of each other. Now that Finnan has left, it would mean that the battle for the right back position will be between Arbeloa and Deggen. Arbeloa has been the one commanding the position so far this season and he has done okay but I am waiting to see a bit more of Deggen especially since it is said that he can attack.

We would like to wish a farewell to Steve. Thank you for your service at Liverpool. You put it some great performances for us over the years in the right back position. Never a player who caught the peoples attention with great goals or amazing runs but you did your job solidly. You defended well when asked to and delivered some telling balls into the box.

All the best at Espanyol.

He was never a flashy type, but I will miss Finnan as he was always solid and gave us a good effort out on the pitch. I hope that he finds much joy at Espanyol and all the best.
    He will be missed.
