He will undergo the routine procedure sometime today and his recovery is estimated at 10-15 days. This will, unfortunately for him, rule out his playing in England’s two World Cup qualifiers in that time period.
In the long run for LFC, however it may be for the best that he get this sorted now, and the fact that it is on international time is even better.
Best wishes and a speedy recovery Stevie.
Yea, lets hope for a quick recovery. Hopefully h’s back fully fit in time for the ManU match. Hopefully Alonso and Masher can do the business at Villa on Sunday.
I hope he will be fit for the Man U game. I got a funny feeling Rafa is going to partner Lucas and Mascherano against Villa now.
Will he be available for the game against the mancs
Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard is set to miss four matches, including the first two World Cup qualifiers, because he needs a groin operation.
Gerrard, 28, will undergo the operation on Thursday and will be out for “10-15 days”, according to boss Rafa Benitez.
Gerrard played through the pain barrier on Wednesday to help Liverpool into the Champions League group stage.
England travel to Barcelona to play Andorra on Saturday 6 September and face Croatia away four days later
And in the Premier League he is set to miss the matches involving Aston Villa on Sunday and Manchester United on 13 September.
I am getting word that this op could rule Gerrard out for slightly longer than first thought. He maybe out for 4 – 6 weeks which would mean he would miss the games against Man U and Everton.
I feel if he is not fully fit after the op then there is no point in risking him and rather leave him on the sidelines so he gets 110% fit for the rest of the season. We can beat Man U and Everton without Stevie.
All too often players get rushed back after ops and then the rest of the season they are playing on and off. Lets get Stevie 110% sorted and not rush him back.
