It is official, Robbie Keane is now a Liverpool player. YES! This is a signing I had been waiting for a while now. I had thought we may not have gotten him but after he had his medical this morning he has put pen to paper on a four year deal. There is no mention of an exact price on how much we paid for Keane but it is believed to be in the region of £18m with the possibility of going up to as much at £20m if we win the Premiership or Champions League.

Now we will see Keane partner up with Torres and hopefully Gerrard will play a more central midfield role this coming season. Can you just imagine if the Keane – Torres combination sparks and the each get no less than 20 goals and then Stevie comes in with his usual quota of goals. I think we could be unstoppable this season.

Some may wonder why this signing has happened much quicker than the Gareth Barry signing. I think the Keane deal is a result of funds available from the sale of Crouch, Riise and Carson. The Barry deal hinges on Alonso being sold. Liverpool had to go out and get another striker after Crouch’s departure. There really was no negotiations with regards to that, we needed another striker and we have gotten a pretty damn good one at that!

Keane is expected to wear the famous number 7 and I am sure he will not let us down. Welcome to Liverpool Robbie! (Just as I typed that, I realised the name ‘Robbie’ and I hope he does just as well as Robbie Fowler!)

Hopefully now we can mount a serious title challenge as goals will be plenty. 30 from Torres, 20 from Keane, 15 from gerrad, 10 from Babel, 10 from Kuyt!!

I am glad Keane has signed. But dont give him the number 7, give him Voronin’s number 10 and save 7 for David Silva. Voronin can get number 34 or something.

Good luck Robbie. Hope you bang in many goals for us and we see the cart-wheel celebration.

I don’t care what number Voronin has on in Germany to be honest. =P
