After yesterdays victory over Tranmere, Rafa said, “We are still working hard to bring in two more players. I would hope that there would be some progress next week or very soon.” The question now is, “Who are these two new players Rafa is hoping to bring in?” The most obvious one is Gareth Barry. There had been suggestions that he has already had a medical at Liverpool after Villa and Liverpool had agreed a fee for him but Martin O’Neil was quick to come out and say that no deal had been agreed yet. But I am sure it is just a matter of time now until Villa agree to sell Barry to us but then there could be a twist in this transfer as Arsenal are now also thought to be interested in Barry and they could make a bid for him which could match what Villa want for Barry.

I personally do not think Arsenal are interested in Barry and it may just be a tactic by Villa to start speculation that Barry may go to another team besides Liverpool and in that way they think Liverpool will just accept their offer due to the fear of missing out on signing Barry.

The second signing I think it’s either Robbie Keane or David Silva. I do not think it is Robbie Keane, especially now that Berbatov is most likely joining Manchester United. Spurs would be very silly to sell both Berbatov and Keane. It is more likely that Berbatov will leave Spurs and that said, I do not see Spurs allowing Keane to leave. With regards to Silva, the possibilities are there to sign him. Rafa admires the player and he would fit in well into our style of play.

But I have a funny feeling, we could be shocked by who Rafa signs. I am sure he is working non stop in trying to bring quality players and we could see some signings of players who we have not mentioned.
