I’ve read that Michael Owen has only been in for one round of contract negotiations over the summer with Newcastle. Supposedly it will be a much more incentive laden deal, in order to allow him to bring its value up to what he is currently on. The fact that there has been little progress suggests that he may be on the way out, and that Newcastle may be willing to part with him for as little as the title of this post suggests.

As you can read in the about me section of this site, he is the player more than anything else that turned me on to football. Even if he wasn’t half the player he was back in the day, I think he would be a great addition at knockdown price. No one is better at poaching in the box and I think he would make for a good partner up front with Torres when the matchup dictated.

What would you all think about Owen back at Anfield?

One response to “Owen for £5 million?”

  1. Ron says:

Owen for 5m… I’m not too sure about this. It would be great to see him back at Anfield but I think with his terrible injury run, we would be lucky to get 10 games out of him in the season. If he could be fully fit then I would not mind him at all. But I do not think Rafa would make a move for Owen as I feel Rafa may not like Owen. If Rafa really wanted Owen then he would have blocked Owen’s move to Real Madrid. I do not think we should have another ‘Fowler come back’ situation.
