I think there is no way we will be able to afford to buy David Villa from Valencia but on the other hand, there is a chance we could get David Silva. Villa will probably cost about £32m and we clearly can not afford that. On the other hand, Silva may cost about £15m, which is within our price range considering we are offloading Crouch.

What makes me believe we have a chance of getting Silva is that Valencia are in serious need of cash and they have to sell some of their best players to get some cash. Secondly, Liverpool’s chief scout, Eduardo Macia is very close friends with Silva and thus he could easily convince the winger to join us. Rafa had come out and said that Villa was on his wanted list but I think that could have just been a smoke screen to take the focus off his main target which is Silva.

It is more than likely we will see Silva at Anfield rather than Villa. I would certainly not mind seeing Silva at Anfield and wearing the number 7 jursey. It looks like our numbering is starting to carry some weight; at 5 we will have Agger who is solid, 6 could be Barry, 7 Silva, 8 Gerrard and 9 Torres. It all then just comes to an abrupt end with Voronin at 10.
