I was reading a report on Liverpoolfc.tv today which was talking about how Andriy Voronin is looking forward to next season and that he owes us the fans after not having a successful season in the previous campaign. I can never say I hate any player that wears the red shirt for Liverpool but Voronin let me down, big time last season. Granted it was his first season in a new country and it takes time to settle in etc. But even if he has 5 seasons in the Premiership, I just do not think he is the kind of player who will get the Kop buzzing and score a bag full of goals.

I had thought that Rafa was going to sell him in the summer but judging from the article on the official website, Voronin looks set to stay at Anfield. I must say I was a bit disappointed when I read this article. I really want Voronin to leave so that we can get some cash and buy another decent striker.

On too many occasions when Voronin was fit and playing he looked out of sorts. He scored a cracker of a goal against Toulouse at the beginning of the season and I thought maybe this guy was good but alas I was let down. Whenever I saw Voronin on the pitch, it looked like there was a lady playing for Liverpool because of his long hair that he tied in a ponytail.

Maybe I am being too harsh and maybe I should give him another season since he says he owes us. He better deliver next season if he is still around. We have had too many below par players at Liverpool in the last couple of years and I hope Voronin does not fall in that category.

I agree with you Ron. Voronin just does not cut it. I would love to see the back of him and rather get Nemeth to play ahead of him next season. Considering we got Voronin for free even if we sell him to Blackburn Rovers or someone for one million that would be good business.

Nemeth would be 100 times better Sid. I totally agree with you there. As for Voronin to Blackburn, that would not be bad business. After all we seem to ‘dump’ our average players to Blackburn.

I agree that I would love to see Nemeth, but I’m not sure if he’ll get the kind of time on the pitch he needs at his age. I’ve seen it swirling about that he may possibly be heading to Elland Road on loan, and I’m sure various other clubs would be circling if he were available.

Might not hurt him to get some regular first team run outs in front of a full crowd.

It would be a great idea for Nemeth to go on loan next season as long as he is a starter for the team he plays for. I loved seeing him in the reserves and he looks a great prospect.

Now compare Rafa’s young blood in Nemeth to Houlliers flops: Sinama, Le Tallec and Bruno Cheyrou.

Yes, our youth / reserve setup have come on leaps and bounds. Not only did we win the Reserve trophy, we did so with I believe the youngest average age as a squad. Even as such a tender age, we handled opponents not only older, but also quite often with Premiership experience.

I don’t think people fully appreciate the fact that Rafa’s stewardship will not fully 100% kick in until many of these players are allowed to progress into the first team. Not only Nemeth, Insua, and Plessis are on their way in the near future. Pacheco is certainly one to watch, as Barca were devastated we tore him away from them. Spearing, Anderson, Guthrie, etc etc will all bring us value in one way or another. The future is not so bad for us Reds.
