John Arne Riise has finally completed a move to Roma. Riise was sold for £4m after having been signed from Monaco in 2001 for £4.6m. Riise served us well over the years and we will never forget some of the great goals he scored for us. The one that sticks out for me is the free kick against Manchester United at Anfield when after that we started chanting his name in the Kop.

I will also not forget the free kick he struck that broke Alan Smith’s leg. Riise also had a great long throw in and most of the time a throw in near the box for us was as good as a corner. But sadly I think most of us will remember Riise for the own goal he scored last season against Chelsea in the Champions League. It was a sad way for his Liverpool career to come to an end.

Thank you very much John Arne for your great service to the team and we wish you all the best at Roma. We will certainly chant your name if one day you do return to Anfield for Roma. You will never walk alone!
