It is suggested that new Chelsea coach, Phil Scolari will try tempt Liverpool buy offering a new British transfer record of £40m for Fernando Torres. Honestly, who do Chelsea think they are? They may have all the money in the world but do they think Torres would leave Liverpool and go to Chelsea? Torres is adored by us fans and those responsible for players at Liverpool know that there is no way they can let Torres leave. ‘Heads would roll’ if Torres is allowed to leave even if its for a staggering £40m.

My fear is that the Yanks seem to be all about business and not for the love of the team. If they are offered £40m for Torres when they bought him for £21.5m from Atletico Madrid, that would make great business sense. It would be a 100% return on profit over one year. In todays harsh business climate, this would be a great business deal. BUT business should be put aside as Torres is probably the best thing to happen to Liverpool in a very long time. We as fans love him and he loves us! If ever we are to win the Premiership, Torres has to be part of that team. We would not be successful without Torres.

I personally can not see Torres wanting to go to Chelsea and I can not see the Yanks parting with him. We as fans would be outraged if they let Torres leave, it would be the worst thing to happen to Liverpool in years! Can you imagine Torres at Chelsea? From having the Kop chanting your name for 90 minutes to going to a team where the fans are some of the worst in the Premiership! I am sure Torres would be the first to admit that hearing Anfield chant:

His armband proved he was a Red
Torres, Torres
You’ll never walk alone, it said
Torres, Torres
We bought the lad from sunny Spain
He gets the ball, he scores again
Fernando Torres
Liverpool’s number nine

has been a huge plus for him and it was one of the contributing factors to his 33 goal season.

Chelsea are trying to build a Real Madrid like team with just superstars. Look how that turned out for them! We should keep Torres and buy one or two more good quality players and not try build a team of superstars.
