The Athletic is reporting that Liverpool have agreed a fee with Bayern Munich for Spanish midfielder Thiago Alcantara thought to be in the region of €30 million.

This will bring to an end one of the longest transfers stories for Liverpool as Thiago has long been linked with a move to the Premier League champions. It had been said that Liverpool would only sign Thiago if another midfielder left the club but it looks like the Reds have made their move regardless of any departures. Gini Wijnaldum continues to be linked with a move to Barcelona so we would have to wait and see if that happens as he has one year left on his current Liverpool deal.

An ideal situation would be to have Thiago at Liverpool and still keep Wijnaldum. That would give Jurgen Klopp a lot of great options in midfield together with Henderson, Fabinho, Keita, Milner, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Jones.

For now we will await official announcement of the Thiago deal and looking forward to seeing him in the number 6 jersey at Liverpool.
