Some Liverpool fans are delighted at the comments that Jurgen Klopp has made in defence of how Pep Guardiola accused Sadio Mane of diving at Aston Villa.

The Reds found themselves one goal down at Villa Park this past weekend, but they found their way past Dean Smith’s men late in the game. Goals from Sadio Mane and Andy Robertson helped Klopp’s men pick up another win in the Premier League (Sky Sports).

But a controversial moment came when Mane dived to earn himself a yellow card, something that Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola talked about after City’s 2-1 win over Southampton.

The Spaniard told reporters: “Sometimes [Mane] is diving, sometimes he has this talent to score incredible goals in the last minute. He’s a talent.”

Indeed, it appears Klopp has responded to Guardiola’s comments recently and Liverpool fans are delighted with the response he provided regarding the Man City manager’s thoughts.

Liverpool are currently at the top of the Premier League and are also the only unbeaten team in the division so far. The only time they have dropped points is at Old Trafford against Manchester United.

City, on the other hand, are at second and find themselves six points behind the Merseyside outfit. The current Champions have lost two games, with them coming against Wolves and Norwich. They have also drawn one game, when they were held to a 2-2 draw by Tottenham.

But both sides meet on Sunday evening at Anfield. One Liverpool fan felt that Klopp’s comments show why the Reds will beat the Citizens at the weekend.

Last season’s clashes between the two sides saw City win at the Etihad, but Liverpool held Guardiola’s men to a goalless draw at Anfield early in the season.

What do we think?

Sadio Mane’s numbers show that he’s one of the best players in the world. The Senegalese has had a hand in as many as 51 goals since the start of the 2017-18 season. Those numbers are phenomenal, especially considering how he has won a Champions League title and has been in two finals.

This season, he has already directly contributed to ten goals in 11 appearances– another sign of the winger’s quality.
