Serie A midfielder Alberto Aquilani has admitted he may have been too hasty with his decision to leave the Reds, reports the La Gazzetta Dello Sport.

Alberto is currently spending his time at Pescara on loan from Sporting Lisbon, and has recently admitted that he never put his all into the Premier League and regrets leaving the club in such a hurry.

He told Italian paper Gazzetta dello Sport: “I had a great time with Liverpool and I had the honour of wearing a special shirt and playing in an incredible stadium.

“Then I decided to leave, and perhaps I was a bit hasty.

“Maybe I should have stayed and continued playing in the Premier League, but I wanted to come back to Italy for family reasons. Nobody forced me out.”

The Italian called Anfield his home for three-years, in which time he only picked up 18 Premier League appearances.

Aquilani set back Liverpool £17m in 2009 before joining Fiorentina for nothing three years later.

Boss at the time, Rafa Benitez, bought the 32-year-old to the club and after Rafa’s departure Alberto was then put on loan to Italian giants AC Milan and Juventus.

Liverpool fans…. Do you miss Aquilani? Would you take him back now? Let us know your thoughts below!
