Liverpool and AC Milan may go head to head in the chase for Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic, according to Tuttosport in Italy.
The young Croatian was only signed by Real at the start of this season for €29million but he has had limited game time with just 11 starts to his name this campaign and AC Milan vice president Adriano Galliani would like to bring the player back to Italy.
Kovacic was bought by Real from city rivals Inter but Milan have purchased many players who have played for their local rivals over the years including Mario Balotelli and most notably Andrea Pirlo.
It is believed Milan want to sign the player initially on loan but the Italian newspaper says that Kovacic is also on Liverpool’s radar and they could beat the Italian club to the 21 year old’s signature. Talented and young, he may fit into FSG’s overall purchasing strategy of buying young talent with a good resale value.
