FC Cologne left back Jonas Hector’s agent Rainer Derber has confirmed that his client will be able to talk to prospective clubs at the end of the current Bundesliga season.
German international Hector has been linked with a move to Liverpool and Derber told German magazine Kicker, (translated by ESPNFC) that Cologne’s purchase of Filip Mladenovic from Belarusian side BATE Borisov to replace Hector will no doubt hasten the 25 year old’s departure from the German club:
“We’ve discussed our course of action with the Cologne hierarchy before the winter break. FC Cologne already reacted to Jonas’ potential transfer with the signing of Mladenovic. Upon consultation with FC Cologne we are allowed to talk to interested clubs. But this won’t happen before the Bundesliga final.”
Hector has 14 caps for Germany after national coach Joachim Low gave the player his international debut against Gibraltar in a 4-0 win in a Euro 2016 qualifier back in November 2014. He has been at Cologne since 2012, and so far this season, the left back has made 32 appearances providing four assists in all competitions. Cologne currently sit eighth in the Bundesliga table on 40 points with 3 games to go.
