Liverpool have signed up England youth international Diego Lattie, reports the Liverpool Echo.
The 16 year old’s contract was up at Manchester City and the Premier League club failed to sign him up to a new deal so the Reds swooped to pick up the young defender.
Lattie has already made his debut for the England Under 17s in a match last August and was said to be interesting a number of different Premier League clubs. The Echo believes what swung it was the fact that Lattie is a boyhood Liverpool fan, and he will now join up with the youth stars at the Academy after signing a three year contract.
The Reds meanwhile are preparing for their highly anticipated match against Villarreal in the semi-final of the Europa League. The first match is at the El Madrigal in Spain but they will go into the match without quarter final heroes Mamadou Sakho (suspended) and Divock Origi (ankle ligament damage).
