Udinese have confirmed that Liverpool are indeed interested in signing their midfielder Piotr Zielinski. The 21 year old is currently on loan at fellow Serie A club Empoli and has impressed so far this season.

Udinese’s Director of Sport Cristiano Giaretta has told Radio Punto Zero, quoted and translated by Football Italia, that the Reds interest in the Polish international is genuine:

“There is interest from Liverpool and it is concrete interest. He is doing very well and has the eyes of the Premier League”

Earlier in the month, Zielinski was quoted as saying he had spoken to Jurgen Klopp about a move to Anfield, but he later said the interview he gave had been mistranslated.  He has been a regular for Empoli this campaign appearing in 32 matches, scoring four goals and providing assists for four others. He has generally played in a central midfield role while at Empoli although he is capable of playing in a more forward role behind the striker or on either wing. His youth and tactical flexibility are characteristics which Jurgen Klopp may look to utilise.
