Liverpool and AC Milan have had contract talks with Nice’s Hatem Ben Arfa, according to RMC Sport in France.

The 29 year old’s contract expires in the summer so he is free to speak to other clubs and the Frenchman is said to have offers on the table from both the Reds and the Rossoneri.

The ex-Newcastle player joined Nice only last summer after a tumultuous season in England last year. After being frozen out at Newcastle, he was loaned out to Hull City. In January he signed for French side Nice but was told he could not play for them until the next campaign because of the rule that you can only play for two clubs in one season. His contract was subsequently terminated because of his inability to play but he re-joined the French club in the summer.

Ben Arfa has been in blistering form this season, scoring 17 goals in 33 appearances, providing assists for 4 other goals. RMC believe scouts from Liverpool have watched the player a number of times already this year, but they may also face competition from Atletico Madrid and PSG, in addition to Milan.
