Turkish side Besiktas are preparing a bid for Liverpool centre back Martin Skrtel, according to Milliyet in Turkey.
The 31 year old has had a stop-start season, with injuries curtailing his first team opportunities this campaign but with the arrival of Schalke’s Joel Matip this summer, and Jurgen Klopp’s preference for the pairing of Dejan Lovren and Mamadou Sakho in big matches, it looks likely that the Slovakian will struggle for game time next season.
Skrtel returned from 2 months out with a hamstring injury as a half time substitute against Southampton in late March but struggled as the Saints came from 2-0 behind to win 3-2 in the second half. He has made just one start since then in the 4-1 victory over Stoke a couple of weeks ago but has been struggling with a groin injury that has kept him out of the games against Bournemouth and Everton .
According to Milliyet, Besiktas will move for AC Milan’s Christian Zapata if they cannot secure the services of Skrtel from the Reds this summer.
