Liverpool are set to miss out on the signing on two midfield players, according to the Gazzetta Dello Sport. In recent weeks the Reds have been linked for moves for both Fiorentina’s Josip Ilicic and Anderlecht’s Dennis Praet.

28 year old Ilicic, who is the fifth highest goalscorer in Serie A this season with 13 goals from 26 games, is interesting Borussia Dortmund and Leicester City with both looking to pay the €15million asking price.

To replace Ilicic, the Italian club are preparing a bid for fellow Reds target Praet. The 21 year old Belgian midfielder has been a regular for Anderlecht since he was 17 and has already made his debut for Belgium in a 3-1 win over Wales in November 2014 replacing Christian Benteke in the 76th minute. The youngster has not appeared for the national side since then though, although he does have experience playing in Europe, with appearances both in the Champions League and the Europa League.
