Empoli midfielder Leandro Paredes is targeting a return to Roma once his loan with the Azzuri is finished at the end of the season. The 21 year old Argentinian has had a successful spell playing for the Serie A side, starting 25 of their 33 league matches, and the box to box midfielder is hoping his performances will given him a chance of first team action with his parent club in Rome. Talking to Sky Italia (quoted by Voetbalzone), Paredes said:

“I feel I’m ready for a big step in my career and would like to return to AS Roma. Serie A is much more technical than the Premier League.”

It appears to suggest that Paredes would prefer to stay in Italy and fight for his place at Roma, rather than moving abroad. Liverpool and Atletico Madrid have been linked with the Argentine in the Gazzetta Dello Sport in recent months as departing Sporting director Walter Sabatini has been tasked with putting the club’s finances in order. Paredes’s current club Empoli meanwhile have had a very successful season, sitting 12th in the table with 39 points.
