Liverpool full back Alberto Moreno has been reflecting on the Reds comeback against Borussia Dortmund in the Europa League quarter final on Thursday night. Facing elimination from the competition at half time 2-0 down and losing 3-1 on aggregate, Moreno believes the atmosphere generated in the crowd at Anfield help the players to believe in themselves, and go on to win the match. Talking to Spanish newspaper Marca

“I’ve never seen anything like it at Anfield in the two years I’ve been here. They never stopped cheering. We were losing 2-0 and 3-1 and it looked like we were winning. There are no words to express the explosion of joy that came when Lovren scored to make it 4-3… The atmosphere created was worthy of a final. It seemed we had won a title and that will help us to believe more in ourselves.”

The 23 year old could face his old club Sevilla in the final if the Reds beat Villarreal in their semi and the Seville based club triumph over Shakhtar Donetsk. Sevilla are aiming for an unprecedented third consecutive Europa League but Moreno will be hoping to prevent that from happening by possibly getting his first trophy for Liverpool in Jurgen Klopp’s first season as the manager. The Reds followed their dramatic 4-3 win against Dortmund with a 2-1 victory over Bournemouth with a youthful starting eleven yesterday.
