Malaga midfielder Ignacio Camacho has denied having any contact with Liverpool in an interview with Spanish radio station Onda Cero. The Spanish midfielder was reported to be in Liverpool in February to discuss a move but the 25 year old explained in the interview:
“There were offers, but either they did not reach the termination [clause] or convince the club, or me. I have a contract until 2019. If one day I leave here, it is because it is best for everyone, I won’t leave by the back door.”
When asked about the link to Liverpool, Camacho responded:
“I was not in Liverpool, I flatly deny it. That day I was having dinner with my colleagues in Marbella.”
The holding midfielder has a reported release clause of €20million and has been a regular in Malaga’s side this season playing 17 times in La Liga and scoring 2 goals. The former Spanish international likes to tackle and also has one red card and 6 yellow cards to his name this campaign. His side Malaga currently sit eighth in the league with 41 points from 31 games played. They face Athletic Bilbao at home in their next La Liga match on Sunday morning. The Reds meanwhile host Borussia Dortmund at Anfield tonight in the second leg of the Europa League Quarter Final tie.
