Liverpool are leading the chase for Ipswich starlet Andre Dozzell, according to the Mirror. Dozzell has been interesting a whole host of clubs including Spurs, Arsenal and West Ham, but the newspaper believe that the Reds are “closing in” on the 16 year old after the Reds manager Jurgen Klopp has kept an eye on the player’s progress in recent weeks and months.
As Dozzell is under the age of 24, Ipswich will be entitled to some compensation for the player and he is expected to cost over a million pounds. He has yet to make his senior debut for the Championship club although he was an unused substitute in Ipswich’s 1-0 victory over Nottingham Forest in Early March so if the Reds are prepared to pay a sizeable compensation for the England Under 17 captain, they must believe he is worth it.
Ipswich themselves are currently eighth in the Championship table with 60 points from 41 games played. They are unlikely to reach the play-offs this season as they are eight points behind sixth placed Sheffield Wednesday.
