Spanish website Don Balon are reporting that Liverpool have joined Atletico Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain in pursuing young Dutch striker Vincent Janssen. The 21 year old is seen as an alternative if Atletico don’t land their primary target Diego Costa but the Reds and PSG are also in the running for the Netherlands international.

Janssen burst on to the scene this season after moving to Eredivise side AZ Almaar from second division side Almere City in the summer. The striker has scored 24 goals in 41 appearances in all competitions this season.

Although the goal scoring record in the Eredivise is not necessarily a sign of quality, his first call up for the Dutch national team for the friendlies against France and England back in March demonstrated Janssen’s ability on the international stage. He scored and provided an assist as the Netherlands came from 1-0 down to beat England 2-1 at Wembley.

The Dutch international could be available for €12million according to Don Balon and it will be interesting to see if the Reds or Atletico make a move for the talented young striker in the summer.
