Portuguese newspaper Record are reporting that Portuguese champions Benfica have entered the race to sign Malaga midfielder Ignacio Camacho. According to the paper the player is valued at €20million by his Spanish side but Liverpool are also chasing the former Spain international.
Camacho has a contract until June 2019 but it seems as if Malaga are prepared to let the 25 year old leave this summer after spending 5 years at a club and making over 100 appearances in central midfield. He is an uncompromising holding midfielder and is strong in the tackle, breaking up play and winning aerial duels against his opponents. This season he has appeared 17 times in all competitions, scoring two goals as Malaga sit eighth in the league with 41 points from 32 games, seven points off seventh placed Sevilla.
Benfica meanwhile face Bayern Munich in the second leg of their Champions League quarter final tonight. They face the German Champions again after losing 1-0 away in the first leg and will be hoping to use their home advantage to turn the tie around.
