Spanish publication SPORT believe that Barcelona are monitoring young Reds midfielder Cameron Brannagan. The 19 year old has impressed during his six appearances in cup competitions this season but has yet to make a league appearance for the Merseyside club.
Brannagan has been with the Reds since the age of 9 and has appeared in the Uefa Youth League against Barcelona where it is believed the Catalan club took notice of him. SPORT’s sources believe that Barca had scouts watching Brannagan in the match between Liverpool and Leicester City Under 21s on Monday night. The Reds beat the Foxes 2-0 leaving them seventh in the U21 Premier League Division One table.
Brannagan made his senior debut against Bordeaux in the Europa League in September coming on as a substitute in a 1-1 draw. He made his first start against Bournemouth in the Capital One Cup in the 1-0 win at the end of October, and has subsequently started three FA Cup matches including both ties against Exeter City in the third round. Back in October he signed a new deal to keep him at Anfield until 2018 so it is not likely Liverpool will be tempted to sell to the Spanish giants.
