Liverpool winger Lazar Markovic is expected to cut short his loan spell at Turkish club Fenerbahce due to a hamstring injury, according to reports.
The Serbian international was expected to recover before the end of the season in order to play some part in the league run in but the injury has not improved sufficiently enough for the 22 year old to take part in any further matches for Fenerbahce.
Markovic has not played for two months since playing against Antalyaspor in early February and has been in close contact with Liverpool’s medical staff in order to speed up his recovery.
It now looks likely that the Serbian will return to England in order to get more specialist treatment from the Reds medical team. Markovic made 20 appearances for Fenerbahce scoring two goals and making three assists.
He will now be focused on getting ready for pre-season in order to impress Jurgen Klopp so as to prove he still has a long term future with the Reds. The winger made little impact in his first season in the Premier League making only 11 league appearances after a £20milliom move from Benfica in the summer of 2014.
