Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has stated that although Reds forward Roberto Firmino has made some ‘big’ strides forwards in his bid to be fit for tonight’s match against Borussia Dortmund in the Europa League Quarter final tie, he is still a doubt.
The 24 year old has been in good form in 2016 scoring 8 goals in his last 14 appearances in all competitions but Klopp told Liverpoolfc.com not much has changed since Saturday when he missed Liverpool’s 1-1 draw with Spurs with a hamstring injury; the injury he picked up in the last 16 second leg tie against Manchester United:
“Since last Saturday, not too much has happened. We are not sure about Roberto [Firmino]; he is for sure a big step ahead, but we are not sure about what we can do with him for Thursday.”
Firmino has travelled with the Liverpool squad to Germany and even trained at Signal Iduna Park last night, but it remains to be seen if he will be included in the starting eleven or whether Klopp is playing a bit of kidology trying to keep the German club guessing on his line up for tonight.
