Liverpool are poised to sign Dutch centre back Abdallah Aberkane from ADO Den Haag, according to the Daily Mail.
The 15 year old can play in a number of positions across the back line although he prefers playing in the centre of defence. Den Haag currently sit mid table in the Eredivisie, 10th with 37 points from 29 games, and will play Vitesse Arnhem away this weekend. They have one of the smallest average attendances in the Dutch league and rely on their academy to bring through top young stars.
Along with Aberkane, Den Haag have also developed stars like Newcastle goalkeeper Tim Krul and Chelsea defender Nathan Ake. Liverpool scouts have been watching Aberkane for most of the season and seem to be convinced that he has a bright future ahead of him. Reds manager seems to have been persuaded as well if he rubber stamps the move for the promising young centre back.
Aberkane would be Klopp’s second defensive signing after it was revealed back in February that Schalke 04 defender Joel Matip would join on a free transfer in the summer. It is hoped Cameroonian international Matip can bring some solidity to a defence which this season has conceded 41 times already in 30 games.
