Key players Ilkay Gundogan, Mat Hummels and Sokratis Papastathopoulos are all available for selection to play Liverpool in Europa League quarter final tomorrow night. It was believed that influential midfielder Gundogan in particular would miss the clash with Jurgen Klopp’s side but goal.com have shared a picture from Borussia Dortmund’s instagram showing the 25 year old in training on Tuesday ahead of the game at Signal Iduna Park in Dortmund.
Gundogan, who has made 3 assists and scored 2 goals in 32 matches in all competitions this season had been sidelined with a foot injury since the start of March after the 0-0 draw in the league to Bayern Munich.
Two other players, captain Hummels and centre back partner Sokratis were taken out of the firing line against Werder Bremen in Dortmund’s 3-2 victory at the weekend but they joined Gundogan in taking part in full first team training yesterday, according to Goal.com.
In the build up to the game tomorrow, Nuri Sahin, who had a brief loan spell with the Reds back in the 2012/13 season says all the Dortmund players are looking forward to seeing their old manager again:
“We have worked together for seven [years]. That he knows us is beyond question. We know him well. We all have a great relationship with Klopp. That will not suffer in these two games.”
