Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli could be used in a deal to sign Fiorentina midfielder Josip Ilicic, according to calciomercato.it .
The Slovenian playmaker has been linked with Liverpool in recent weeks and the 28 year old said a few days ago he was interested in a move if a “good offer” came along:
“It’s normal to be associated with other teams when you play for so many years in the same club. If we were to get a good offer in the summer, I definitely would speak with my leadership. In this case, we would find a solution that satisfies everyone.”
Ilcic has scored 14 goals in 31 appearances for Fiorentina this season, creating another 5. Considering the lack of goals from midfield in recent seasons, Ilicic could prove to be a viable option as Jurgen Klopp looks to improve the Reds squad this summer.
Balotelli meanwhile has been on loan back at AC Milan this season but injuries have hampered his appearances in Italy with just 3 goals from 17 appearances. He has been linked with a move to China and the Reds are hopeful of selling the 25 year old as despite being on loan, they are still paying a significant amount of his £80,000 per week wages according to the Liverpool Echo.
