Milan midfielder Giacomo Bonaventura’s agent Milo Raiola will open new contract talks with AC Milan this summer. According to the Corriere Dello Sport, the twenty six year old has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League with Liverpool leading the chase but the Italian newspaper now believes Milan will try to tie down the Italian international to a longer term deal.

His contract expires in June 2019 but he is one of the lowest paid players at Milan on about one million euros per season despite the fact he has been one of Milan’s top performers even as Sinisa Mihajlovic’s men struggle in sixth place in Serie A with 49 points from 31, six points behind city rivals Inter. Bonaventura has appeared 34 times for the Rossoneri this season scoring seven times and assisting seven others.

To stave off interest from abroad Milan are prepared to more than double Bonaventura’s wages with Milan CEO Adriano Galliani wanting to offer 2.5million euros per season for the Italian to stay at the San Siro. The Corriere Dello Sport however do say that they will consider offers for Bonaventura if a club meets their €20million valuation of the player.
