5 Lessons learnt from Liverpool’s 0-0 draw with Arsenal

5) Liverpool have been working on their defending

Last season, Liverpool would possibly have lost the game on Monday night with the way they played. At times we were brilliant in attack but horrendous in defending. This season is seems that a balance has been found between attack and defence.

Rodgers has opted to play with a back four which seems to be working well. The same four players have started the first three games and three cleansheets have been kept. This is not luck and you can see that a lot of work is being done on the training ground. Skrtel and Lovren seem to be forming a good partnership and they have become more vocal than they were last season which seems to be helping especially with two new players joining them in Clyne and Gomez.

Credit must also go to Mignolet as he pulled of some great stops against Arsenal. We all know the Liverpool goalkeeper is a brilliant shot stopped but gets let down when it comes to dealing with crosses and playing the ball with his feet. The Belgian has done well this season and long may his form continue.
