5 Lessons learnt from Liverpool’s 0-0 draw with Arsenal

2) Lucas is still needed at Liverpool

There had been a lot of talk over the last couple of days with regards to Lucas’ Liverpool future. Besiktas wanted the Brazilian midfielder on loan and it looked like he would be leaving. But with the injury to Jordan Henderson, Rodgers opted to bring Lucas in for the Arsenal game and he did very well.

Liverpool do not have another all-out defensive midfielder besides Lucas and it would be silly to let him go without a replacement coming in. As we saw on Monday, there are going to be games this season, especially against the top 4 sides, when a holding midfielder is going to be needed.

Lucas ran out of steam in the second half and was substituted for young Jordan Rossiter who looks like he has a bag of potential. It would do Jordan Rossiter a lot of good to learn the trade of been an anchor man from Lucas.
