Liverpool midfielder Lucas is being linked with a season long loan to Inter Milan according to reports in the Mirror. The Brazilian midfielder was left out of the Liverpool squad for their opening match against Stoke and that sighted rumours that Lucas had had a fall-out with the club.

Now it is being reported that Liverpool would be willing to let Lucas leave either on loan or if a permanent offer is made in the region of £8million. Inter Milan has shown a lot of interest in Lucas, dating as far back as last summer.

Lucas has been a long servant to the club which some even tipping him for the vice-captaincy position before the season started. But injuries have blighted his time at Anfield and one can only imagine how much more successful he could have been if he did not have as many injuries.

If Liverpool do let Lucas go then Brendan Rodgers would need to bring in extra cover in central midfield. Currently Henderson, Milner, Can and Allen can fill in but more cover would be needed especially in bringing in a specialist defensive midfielder.

The Reds have been linked with a move for Real Madrid’s Asier Illarramendi and William Carvalho from Sporting Lisbon. With only a couple more days of the transfer window left, the Liverpool management is going to have to move quickly and resolve this Lucas situation and bring in a replacement before it is too late.
