Liverpool have struck a deal with Paulinho, who plays forĀ A.D. Sanjoanense in Portugal’s third tier.

The 17-year-old isĀ scheduled to complete a physical and put the final touches on the contract at Merseyside in the coming days.

Paulinho will finish up the current season with his current Portuguese squad before taking his talents to Anfield this summer to compete for Brendan Rodgers next year.

This appears to be the first Liverpool move in anticipation of next year’s campaign. Reports of an Anfield clear-out have been abundant after the Reds endured a highly disappointing season this year.

Paulinho is simply the first domino to fall. Brendan Rodgers has indicated that he will be making significant moves this summer in an effort to return to the top of table in future campaigns.

Paulinho is a youngster with a plethora of talent, but he will need to further develop his game before he can be considered a mainstay at Anfield.

While Paulinho is a solid prospect, Liverpool will need to make many more signings before they can be considered a better team going into next year.
