Brendan Rodgers says Jon Flanagan remains a part of his plans at Anfield, despite missing the entire season after knee surgery.
The 22-year-old returned to full training last week, and whilst he will not be considered for tonight’s clash with Swansea, Rodgers has backed the defender to be challenging for a first team place shortly, and hold down a regular place in the side in the future.
“Hopefully Flanno’s contract will be sorted out,” Rodgers said.
“He is working his way back to fitness and when that happens I am sure the contract will get sorted out.
“He is a big part of the future here. He did remarkably well last year and showed he is player who can play for many years at this level.”
Flanagan established himself as a key player for the Reds last season, playing at both left back and right back as the Reds came within two points of a first Premier League title.
