Liverpool are awaiting the results of a scan on Steven Gerrard’s hamstring injury sustained in the win over Tottenham on Tuesday, with fears the Reds captain could be ruled out for as long as a month.
Gerrard was withdrawn with more than 20 minutes to play on Tuesday evening, having felt a tightness in his hamstring.
Initial thoughts are that the 34-year-old will miss three weeks with the injury, although the scan could yet reveal further damage.
Liverpool have already suffered a major injury blow this week, with the news Lucas Leiva will be out of action for a month with a groin problem sustained in the Merseyside derby last weekend.
