Mario Balotelli does not suit Liverpool’s style of play, according to manager Brendan Rodgers.

The Italian is set to return to the squad for the Boxing Day trip to Burnley, having missed the last game through suspension for a controversial social media post.

Balotelli has scored just two goals since his move from AC Milan in the summer, and is yet to fire in the Premier League.

And Rodgers gave his thoughts as to why that could be during his pre-match press conference this afternoon.

“I think we’ve seen it’s not really his game,” Rodgers said on Sky Sports News HQ. “Working with Mario, we see someone who is better around the box.

“That level of intensity and pressing isn’t part of his game but you try and get the best out of the players you have and the qualities that you have.

“So that’s something that we will focus on, but the most important thing is that he’s available after his ban. It adds another player to our squad and another player who is available, especially with Fabio Borini unavailable.”

One response to “Balotelli does not suit our style, says Rodgers”

  1. Geoff Price says:

So Balotteli does not suit our style, so why the hell did you buy him. You my man need too look at yourself because you do not have my respect as a manager for LFC. Your signings, your team selections and the dealings with departedLiverpool players speaks volumes about you…..I rest my case.
