Jamie Carragher believes Simon Mignolet should be dropped from the Liverpool first team, after the Belgian goalkeeper gifted Ludogorets the opening goal during Wednesday night’s 2-2 draw.

Mignolet has come under fire for his performances this season, with Reds legend Bruce Grobelaar claiming the former Sunderland man was ‘worse than Dracula’ earlier in the week.

And following last night’s howler, Carragher believes Mignolet should be taken out of the firing line.

‘It’s a major concern Liverpool just can’t make a clean sheet now,’ Carragher said, speaking on Sky Sports.
‘It’s another mistake for him and it’s getting to the stage now… Lovren was taken out of the team tonight, he [Mignolet] probably needs the same at the moment. For his own good.
‘The problem is, Brad Jones on the bench is not better than Mignolet, is that the answer?
‘It’s not just about a keeper, it’s any player. Sometimes you think you’ll play yourself out of the bad form, we’ve been there ourselves.
‘Sometimes it is good to step back out of the limelight and let others have a go.’

Would you take Simon Mignolet out of the Liverpool first team? Let us know your thoughts below.

  1. James says:

Carrageer is spot on Mignolet is an absolute nightmare. He fails to instil any confidence into the defence and cannot be relied on in a crisis. He stood n his line last night and admired the ball being ping pronged across the box for the equaliser. Made no attempt to attack the ball whatsoever. Jnes must replace him immediately as he can’t be any worse than Mignolet. The same applies to Lovren. Completely useless. Time for BR to face facts and stop hiding away from the truth.
