Liverpool are ready to make a £30million move for Porto striker and Arsenal target Jackson Martinez in January, according to the Daily Star.

The Colombian forward has been a consistent goalscorer over the past couple of years in Portugal, and is being prepared for a January transfer to the Premier League as Brendan Rodgers prepares to cut his losses on Mario Balotelli.

The Italian has managed just two goals in all competitions for the Reds since completing a £16million transfer from AC Milan in the summer, whilst Martinez has seven in 10 in Portugal, and four in four Champions League matches.

Brendan Rodgers is aware he needs to add more firepower to his side, having seen the Reds drop to 11th in the table.

Daniel Sturridge is set to return after missing 14 matches in all competitions for their next clash at Crystal Palace, but that has not stopped Rodgers preparing a £30million January bid for Arsenal target Martinez.

I have no more confidence in Wenger’s choices than I do with Rogers’, so if they are both interested he must be a dud! I suggest Brendan take advice from the Chelsea and Southampton managers who seem to know what they are doing when it comes to recruitment.
