Liverpool are plotting a January move for Real Madrid star Isco, according to reports in Spain.

The Spanish international featured against Liverpool in back-to-back victories for Real Madrid in the Champions League, but looks likely to drop back to the bench following the return of Gareth Bale from injury.

Brendan Rodgers is said to be a long term admirer of the playmaker, and was linked with a move for his services in the summer.

And Spanish reports suggest the Liverpool boss has identified the 22-year-old as a ‘priority transfer target’ when the January transfer window opens, with the Reds desperate to get their season back on track.

Manchester City have also been linked, and whilst Real Madrid are reluctant to sell, reports suggest they would be willing to listen to offers in the region of £31million.
