Arsenal are closing in on the signing of Liverpool target and Real Madrid legend Iker Casillas, according to the Daily Star.
The Spanish World Cup winner has struggled for form and regular first team football in recent seasons, with some suggesting the 33-year-old could do with a new challenge.
Real Madrid signed World Cup star Keylor Navas in the summer, and reports suggest he is seen as the long term replacement to Casillas.
That has alerted both Arsenal and Liverpool, with the Reds keen to sign a goalkeeper to provide competition for Simon Mignolet, who has come in for some criticism during his time at Anfield.
But reports suggest Arsenal are preparing a January offer for Casillas, with Arsene Wenger having grown frustrated with goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny.
But despite the speculation, Casillas recently revealed in an interview he had no intention of leaving the 10 time European champions.
He said: “There’s always speculation here but after all the stories, the rumours, I’m still here.
“There’s never been a chance for me to go anywhere else because I’ve never thought about it.
“All the presidents I’ve had have said: ‘The day you don’t want to be here, just come and tell me.’ And I’m still here. It started here and I want it to finish here.”
