Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has taken a swipe at Brendan Rodgers for fielding a much changed line up in the Champions League clash with Real Madrid.
Rodgers made wholesale changes to his starting line up for the clash in the Bernabeu, leaving the likes of Steven Gerrard, Raheem Sterling, Mario Balotelli, Jordan Henderson and Philippe Coutinho on the bench.
Despite a spirited performance, the Reds came away with a 1-0 defeat and now need to win their remaining two group B matches to qualify for the last 16 of the competition.
Some have suggested the Liverpool boss is looking to keep his players fresh for Saturday’s Premier League clash, and Mourinho has had his say on the matter – claiming he would not have acted in the same way as the Reds boss.
“If Liverpool decide to rest players when they play against the European champions, it’s a question for the Liverpool manager – it’s not a question for me”, Mourinho said.
“I don’t speak about Liverpool. I speak about myself. If one day I go to a game and I don’t feel I can win, maybe I don’t go.
“Normally, against the most difficult opponents, normally I will try to go with my best team.”
