Brendan Rodgers is ready to risk controversy by fielding a second string XI for tonight’s Champions League clash with Real Madrid, according to various reports.

With Liverpool set to take on Premier League leaders Chelsea at Anfield on Saturday, Rodgers will look to rest the likes of Raheem Sterling, Steven Gerrard and Mario Balotelli in hope of having key players fresh for their next domestic challenge.

The Reds were swept aside comfortably by Real Madrid when the sides met at Anfield a fortnight ago, with the reigning European Champions picking up a 3-0 win at Anfield.

It looks as though the final two matches of the group will decide the Reds Champions League fate, with nobody seemingly giving the Reds a hope in hell of picking up a positive result tonight.

Here is the possible line up for tonight’s clash: Mignolet, Manquillo, Toure, Skrtel, Moreno, Lucas, Henderson, Can, Lallana, Markovic, Lambert.

Would you rest key players for tonight’s clash with Real Madrid? Is it important to have key players fresh for Chelsea? Or is this simply surrendering the points before a ball is kicked? Let us know your thoughts below.
