Lazar Markovic says he needs to be allowed time to adapt to life at Liverpool, having completed a £20million transfer from Benfica in the summer, reports Sky Sports.

The Serbian winger has struggled to make any sort of impact this season, starting games against Aston Villa, Everton and FC Basel in the Champions League.

But the 20-year-old says that given time, he is confident he can show Liverpool fans why Brendan Rodgers forked out big money to bring him to Anfield.

He told Mondo: “You know how things go in football, I’m getting there and adjusting well.

“It will take a little more time but, all in all, I feel okay.

“I feel great there and everybody has been great with me. I could not wish for more. I’m happy and that is the most important thing.

“My team-mate is the legendary Steven Gerrard, the fans love me and Anfield is great. But, as I said, I just need a little bit more time.”
